When my dear friends, Travis and Melissa, announced that they were going to start raising money for their domestic adoption, I was so excited to jump in and be apart of their fundraising effort. Inspired by the #artistsforadoption piece I did, I asked them to choose a verse that was meaningful to their family, especially in this circumstance. Here is the finished product...
This post is dedicated to my darling bestie, Emily, who lost her daddy one year ago today. I have felt grief many times in my life but have not yet experienced the grief that comes with losing a parent. Watching my friend experience this sudden great loss has been painful but also a startling reminder of how precious every moment is with the ones we love.
Last month she commissioned me to do this print for her and her family members as a reminder of the love that they share as a family. It is a line from The Avett Brothers' "Murder in the City" and I may have shed a tear (or buckets) while listening to it and designing this piece. Sometimes there is so much beauty that we can find in even the most painful and grievous places.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today, Em. Love you dearly.
